Clarify the reason for treatment
Ask: What specific functional problem did you identify? Could the difficulty have another cause? What support or monitoring is appropriate, and what has already been tried? How would we know whether treatment helped?
A visible frenulum alone should not be the explanation. Request a clear connection between the examination and the daily problem your child experiences.
Understand the plan
Ask about risks, comfort measures, the clinician's experience with the proposed method and the limits of expected benefit. Ask what follow-up is planned, who provides feeding support and whom to contact outside routine visits.
You can take time to consider options or seek another opinion. A good conversation supports informed decisions without pressure or promises.
